Orkestai Farm is home to some of the best bird habitat in the area. How come? We can't say with certainty, but it probably has something to do with our fertile soil and all the life and food it provides.

Ashley Pichon of Rising Tide Natural Market is an avid birder and photographer and she generously shared these images she captured this summer at the farm.

1)Identify each of the four species. Use the scientific name, not the common name, so there's no potential for confusion. Please refrain from using the computer or phone or any other digital technology. Reference books and other people's knowledge are acceptable sources for research.

2)Write a creative/poetic sentence about each bird. This could be purely descriptive or imaginative.

2a)If you're not the writerly type, instead for each bird you can make up a ditty, or do a dance, or make a painting/drawing or any other creative expression that you can record and upload it to us. Note, upload max is 10MB and please don't include any recordings longer than 30 seconds.

3)Submit your entry by October 1st at 10PM, EST.
